Candour Questions

Propose a question.

A question worth answering is specific, consequential, and still open. Sending one does not put it on the public register.

The house reads questions selectively. It is not opening a standing pile of manuscripts, and a question is not a commission.

This page does not store what you write. The institutional address is not yet a confirmed public channel, so the house is not receiving question proposals through the site. The list below is the standard a proposal will have to meet.

  1. The question, in one sentence.
  2. Why does it matter?
  3. Who experiences the problem?
  4. Why are existing answers insufficient?
  5. What has changed recently?
  6. What assumptions may be wrong?
  7. What evidence might answer it?
  8. What would change your own view?
  9. Who should Candour speak to?
  10. May we attribute the question to you? Yes, no, or discuss first.
  11. Would you help refine it?

Book proposals still go through Submissions. That form is for a book, not for this register.
