We are looking for books that make something important clearer.
Candour House Press publishes independent non-fiction about technology, work, money and the decisions that shape ordinary lives.
You don’t need an agent to approach us. You don’t need to send a manuscript either. Start by telling us what the book is, who it is for, and what its reader will understand afterwards that they do not understand now.
Please don’t send a manuscript yet. If an idea looks right for the Candour list, we will ask to see a proposal, sample chapters or the full manuscript.

Candour is primarily interested in serious non-fiction rooted in:
- Technology
- Work
- Money
- Business and entrepreneurship
- Ideas and society
- Science and the future
- Biography, memoir and lives
- History
- Narrative non-fiction
- Decision-making and ordinary life
Does this book make something important clearer, truer or more useful?
Boundaries
What we are not looking for.
We would rather say no clearly than waste a writer’s time. The list is unlikely to be right for:
- Generic motivational manuscripts
- Recycled business advice with no substantive argument
- Manuscripts built primarily around trend-chasing
- Unsupported certainty presented as expertise
- General fiction
- Poetry
- Children’s fiction
- Work that is fundamentally promotional material for another business
Proposal
Tell us about the book.
This form is the front door. It is not a place to upload a manuscript, and sending it does not commission the book.
Similar ideas
Candour may already be considering, commissioning or receiving work on similar subjects. Submission does not create exclusivity.
Confidential information
Writers should not submit confidential, proprietary or commercially sensitive information through the initial form.
Privacy
Information submitted through this form is used to assess the proposal and communicate with the writer about it. Submission data is not added to a marketing list without separate consent.
