Sponsors
Sponsor a question worth answering.
Sponsors fund questions. They do not buy answers.
Candour is not taking sponsor approaches yet. A conversation starts only when there is one strong question, with a reason it matters, an initial look at the evidence, a credible way to investigate it, and people who could do the work.
There is no such question on the public register, and no challenge is open.
When a sponsor does fund work, they may:
- fund the investigation;
- propose the question;
- provide context;
- provide lawful data;
- nominate possible specialists.
Funding does not, by itself, allow a sponsor to:
- dictate the conclusion;
- suppress a legitimate finding because it is inconvenient;
- secretly control who reviews the work;
- remove a researcher because of a viewpoint;
- hold an editorial veto;
- own all of the resulting intellectual property.
Material sponsorship will be disclosed. Illustrative budgets exist in the house’s planning papers. They are not prices, and they are not published here as an offer.
The independence rule is set out under sponsor independence. Editorial control sits with the house.
