Conflicts of interest
A conflict is declared and managed. It does not automatically disqualify someone.
Relevant conflicts include a financial interest, employment or consultancy, an investment, direct competition, a recent collaboration, a supervisory relationship, a close personal relationship, an active dispute, and a relationship with a sponsor of the work.
Where a conflict is real, the house may disclose it, add another reviewer, limit the person’s role, ask them to stand aside from a decision, or decline their involvement.
A subject adviser is not automatically a reviewer. Someone who helped frame a question should not be the only person who tests the answer.
